Project Description

Group Therapy

What is a Group Therapy?

Group therapy generally consists of six to ten people meeting with a trained therapist to talk about issues that they may be struggling with. Members share their feelings and gain insight about their problems from other group members who may be having similar struggles. Emotional support in the form of group therapy can be an invaluable experience.

Below are some of the groups currently offered at Behavioral Associates.

Behavioral Management Group for Parents

This group is based on Parent Management Training, an empirically supported treatment protocol designed to educate parents on managing their child’s behavior at home and in school. The group is designed to facilitate learning as well as provide an environment of support.

Teen’s Group

At the Teen’s Group, adolescents can safely express themselves among peers and are given a multitude of tools to help cope with their problems. Topics include:

  • Coping skills

  • Emotional expression

  • Communication

  • Social skills
